Phase II Shop Afterglow

It has been a little over thirty years since the inception of Phase II, the progressive-folk band founded by
Mark Andrews (Blue Grass) and Nicholas Tesluk (Changes). Since then, only the five selections on their
self-titled, blue vinyl recording (and a handful of songs featured in recent anthologies) have found an
audience outside the venues where they performed live during their original tenure. Until now.

As the pièce de résistance of Phase II’s artistic career to date, the band’s new recording Afterglow has
arrived, introducing listeners to their unique and timeless mixture of musical stylings. Included in this
expansive release are six songs from their original repertoire – including songs rehearsed but never
performed in any venue – recorded here for the first time. All the songs from their original blue record
(long out-of-print) have been enhanced and included on Afterglow. And to bring things full-circle, Phase
II is proud to present a recording of its first (but not last) all-new song of the 21st Century.

To round out an already-generous presentation, the compact disc version of Afterglow also includes the
entire Candle in the Night, the band's unplugged (pre-plugged?) 1978 conceptual radio program, two
songs of which recently appeared on the Flammenzauber 2 compilation (on the Tonwerk label). The
Afterglow compact disc package (in a gatefold digipak) also features a 16-page booklet with full
lyrics and original artwork, plus an anecdotal history of the band in text and photos.

Whether during their “folk duo” period, or as a full progressive band, the warmth of
Phase II's music was originally felt all-too-briefly by all-too-few. Afterglow is a comprehensive
retrospective of their original songs. Now that Nicholas and Mark have reunited in the digital age, may
Afterglow also prove to be a launch pad for
exciting new musical adventures to come.
